This database was created by John Parkinson at the British Museum library in the mid-20th century and contains some information which may not be accurate as it has now been superseded by later research. However it may be useful as a finding aid for checking the contents of post-1726 songbooks, but should not be regarded as definitive. The content of songbooks pre-1726 are covered in David Hunter's book Opera and song books published in England 1703-1726: a descriptive bibliography.
